Teaching methodology

Currently, group courses offered by this Italian Cultural Institute are for beginner and intermediate levels. Launch of higher-level courses is subject to reaching the minimum number of enrolments. Private lessons, on the other hand, are possible for all levels.

All courses are based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Our Italian classes follow an interactive methodology based on the development of real communication skills.

The principles we follow are:

  • the central role of the student who learns through pair work, group work and role taking.
  • the teacher works as a facilitator for the communication
  • use of teaching materials that propose real-life situations
  • first dominant use, and then exclusive use, of the Italian language.

Courses levels

BEGINNERS (A1 and A2)

Goal: to be able to interact socially in the different contexts of everyday life, both formally and informally.

Courses at this level aim to enable students to give and receive personal information in both written and spoken form. Students also receive general information about Italian culture.

INTERMEDIATE (B1 and B2)

Goal: more advanced written and spoken skills in “real life” situations and beyond familiar topics.

There are two intermediate course levels: Intermediate 1 and Intermediate 2.

At this stage, an increase in the objective of communication for informational and evaluative purposes in both written and spoken form is developed. In addition, topics of Italian culture, such as cinema, art and literature, will be covered and discussed.

ADVANCED (C1 and C2)

Goal: language consolidation in all kinds of communicative situations.

The course at the advanced level is organized into 2 levels: Advanced 1 and Advanced 2.

Productive skills (oral and written) are further developed in both formal and informal situations. Materials such as newspaper articles and excerpts from Italian literature are used and analysed during the lessons.

Private lessons are available on request. (enrollment form)
