On November 24th, starting at 9:30 AM, we invite you to delve into the crucial theme of the relationship between women’s leadership and climate change, in the prestigious setting of the University of Nairobi. In particular, event attendees will have the opportunity to explore the following critical questions alongside the speakers:
How is climate change influencing the empowerment of women?
What are the strategies and solutions related to women’s leadership in decision-making processes on climate change?
In the evocative setting of the Chandaria Hall (on the 6th floor of the University of Nairobi Tower), you will hear the experiences of four Kenyan and Italian women engaged in diverse ways on these issues:
- Ms. Charlene Ruto -Youth Leader and Climate Action Champion
- Ms. Elisabeth Wathuti – Founder of Green Generation Initiative, speaker at COP
- Ms. Francesca Di Matteo – Deputy Director, Researcher, French Institute for Research in Africa
- Dr. Mary Lucia Mbithi – Senior Lecturer, Department of Economics and Development Studies, University of Nairobi
Join us for a day of insights, inspiration, and discussion on building solutions for a sustainable future.
At the end of the event, we will unveil a collective exhibition by Italian photographer Gaia Squarci, in collaboration with young photographers from the Mwelu Foundation in Mathare. The photographer, during her artistic residency organized in October with AICS Nairobi, Cortona on the Move, WeWorld Onlus, and Mwelu Foundation, used the medium of images to address the same themes that will be discussed during the event.
