The Italian Cultural Institute in Nairobi is pleased to host Edoardo “Xedo” Bernardini, one of the most influential figures in the international Breaking scene, for a series of activities dedicated to Hip Hop culture, cultural exchange, and artistic education.

Active as a B-Boy since 2002, Xedo is currently an international judge for the World DanceSport Federation and has been a key figure in the Olympic Breaking pathway, serving as a judge for the qualification processes for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games. Over the course of his career, he has participated in some of the most important Breaking events worldwide, including the Olympic Qualifier Series Shanghai, the World Breaking Championship in Seoul, and numerous international competitions and educational programs.

During his stay in Nairobi, Xedo will be involved in several activities open to the local community.

Xedo will be the special guest of the Nairobi spin-off of the Hip Hop Cine Fest, a festival born in Rome dedicated to the relationship between Hip Hop, cinema, urban art, and social transformation.

The programme will include:

🎬 International film screenings:

  • Remapping Rome: A Hip Hop Story
  • Barre Aperte
  • Roots of the Culture

🎤 Panel discussion with artists and creative collectives
🔥 Open dance cypher

The panel will explore topics such as:
• Hip Hop and urban transformation
• Art and empowerment
• Education, community, and urban culture
• Cultural exchange between Italy and Kenya

The dance cypher will be hosted by Onkwani, one of the most active figures in the East African Breaking scene, with music by Bboy Drift, Kenyan breaker and internationally active DJ.

Xedo will also serve as special guest judge for the cypher.

Admission to the event is free and open to everyone.
