The Italian Cultural Institute in Nairobi is trilled to present the “Calvino Invisibilia” creative writing competition. This prestigious event is organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), the University for Foreigners of Siena, Farm Cultural Park, and the COMICON (International Comic Book Fair in Naples).
The aim of this competition is to celebrate the centenary of the birth of Italo Calvino, one of the most distinguished Italian authors of the 20th century, by providing an exceptional opportunity for students in Italian schools and Italian sections in foreign and international schools to become better acquainted with his works.
The theme of the competition focuses around sustainability, with a particular emphasis on exploring creativity through writing. Students can participate individually or as a group, and they are invited to unleash their imagination by creating imaginary cities, ranging over various aspects such as history, art, culture, environment, and society.
To participate, interested teachers can register their classes by sending an email to dgdp-05.comunicazione@esteri.it by December 15, 2023. Submissions must be made by May 30, 2024, for schools in the northern hemisphere and by June 30 for schools in the southern hemisphere. Only original and unpublished works that strictly adhere to the competition’s requirements will be accepted.
To support students and help them understand the creative process, the V Office DGDP will organize online training sessions in collaboration with the University for Foreigners of Siena and Farm Cultural Park.
