On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of women’s suffrage in Italy, the Italian Cultural Institute is pleased to host the photographic exhibition “Women of the Republic: Eighty Years of Achievements in ANSA’s News Coverage (1946–2026)”, produced by the Italian news agency ANSA under the patronage of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI).
Through a selection of historical black-and-white and colour photographs, the exhibition retraces eighty years of women’s emancipation, highlighting the key milestones that have shaped women’s participation in Italy’s political, social, cultural, and economic life. It offers a journey through the history of the Italian Republic, showcasing the vital contribution of women to the development of a more inclusive and modern society.
The exhibition, consisting of 15 photographic panels, will be on display in the compound of this Institute and the Embassy of Italy in Nairobi from Friday, 19 June 2026, until Friday 28th August 2026. The exhibition will be open to all the visitors of the compound or by registration by emailing iicnairobi@esteri.it.
Through ANSA’s photographs and news coverage, the exhibition provides a unique perspective on the achievements, challenges, and transformations that have marked the path of Italian women over the past eighty years, inviting visitors to reflect on the values of participation, equality, and rights.
