On the occasion of the Week of the Italian Language in the World, the Italian Cultural Institute of Nairobi presents a screening of the documentary Umberto Eco – The World’s Library, directed by Davide Ferrario.
The screening is part of I Filosofi, the exhibition by Italian artist Hilario Isola, and offers an opportunity to “expand the philosophers’ symposium” by opening another space for reflection around one of Italy’s most important intellectual figures of the 20th century.
Writer, philosopher, semiologist and passionate bibliophile, Umberto Eco made knowledge, books and libraries central themes of both his work and his life. Davide Ferrario’s documentary explores his intellectual universe through images, words and testimonies, offering an insight into his extraordinary library and his approach to knowledge.
The film will be screened in Italian with English subtitles.
A light snack will be served during the evening.
