The Italian Institute of Culture in Nairobi is pleased to announce the return of the exhibition “Letture d’Africa” (Readings from Africa) by Italian illustrator Andrea Mongia. Following the success of its initial showings in Dakar, Senegal, and Nairobi, the exhibition continues its journey in Kenya with a stop in Malindi.
In this captivating display, Andrea Mongia’s illustrations, originally conceived as a calendar for the 2023 Medici con l’Africa – Cuamm NGO, come to life, intertwining with words from masterpieces of African literature and authors of the diaspora. It’s a celebration of the intersection between the evocative power of words and visual art.
The Kenyan exibitions have been enriched with a special tribute to the late Kenyan writer Kenneth Binyavanga Wainaina and his iconic work, “One Day I Will Write About This Place.” A testament to the cultural and literary richness of Africa, where the exhibition becomes a bridge between different experiences and narratives.
The exhibition will be on display from 19th March to 19th May 2024 at the Malindi Museum.
