QUARTETTO ARQUÀ
The Quartet was formed in 2010 within the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, under the guidance of A. Farulli, thanks to the passion of young musicians for chamber music and in particular for the string quartet.
From 2010 to 2012 the Quartet attended a Special String Quartet Course held by A. Nannoni at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, passing the final exam with maximum marks and honours.
Currently they attend a Quartet and Chamber Music Course held by the Quartetto di Cremona at the Accademia “Walter Stauffer” of Cremona. Further specialization courses were undertaken with G. Turconi and A. Repetto, V. Martinez Mehner and at the Accademia Europea del Quartetto (ECMA) with H. Beyerle, H. Müller, J. Meissl, A. Farulli, C. Giovaninetti and C. Schuster.
The Quartet has performed in Italy and abroad for famous festivals and associations (Festival dei Due Mondi of Spoleto, Festival “Dino Ciani” of Cortina d’Ampezzo, Festival del Quartetto d’Archi, Festival “Sesto Rocchi” in Quintetto with A. Farulli, Accademia Filarmonica of Bologna, the W. Walton Foundation, Associazione Veneta Amici della Musica, Associazione “I Teatri”, Asociaciòn Cultural Arriaga, Long Lake Festival of Lugano, Associazione Amici del Quartetto “Guido A. Borciani”, etc.) and live on RAI Radio3 in “I Concerti del Quirinale”, playing, among others, on prestigious stages like Sala Mozart of Bologna, Teatro Olimpico of Venice, Teatro Comunale of Ferrara, Teatro “Ponchielli” of Cremona, Teatro “Caio Melisso” of Spoleto, Palazzo del Quirinale, Galleria dell’Accademia of Florence, etc.
In 2011 they won the 1st Absolute Prize in the Concorso Internazionale “Nuovi Orizzonti” of Arezzo and the 1st Absolute Prize in the Concorso Internazionale “Arte Musicale e Talento” of Montecchio Maggiore.
Following a competitive exam in 2012 they were awarded the “Amici della Scuola di Musica di Fiesole” scholarship and also won, in the year 2012, the scholarship named after Sir William Walton, which is offered every year to the best students of the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole.
In 2013 they won 1st Absolute Prize in the Trio and Quartet Category and 1st Absolute Prize in the Chamber Music Category in the Concorso “Giulio Rospigliosi” of Pistoia.

Francesco Lovato – Violin
Having graduated with top marks at the Conservatorio di Venezia, Francesco attended specialization courses with G. Guglielmo, S. Askenazy, M. Rogliano, I. Grubert and the Trio di Trieste and Trio di Parma for chamber music. He is the First violin of the Quartetto Arquà, an established group on the Italian quartet scene and a player in numerous playbills of Italian concert seasons.
The First Violin and Concert Leader in numerous orchestra formations, he covers the role of Principal of Second Violins at the FVG Mitteleuropa Orchestra of Udine. He also works with the Sonatori della Gioiosa Marca and the Venice Baroque Orchestra.
The prize-winner in numerous chamber music competitions, he constantly collaborates in various formations with internationally famous artistes in major musical shows (MI.TO, Mahler Festival of Dobbiaco, Estate Musicale of Portogruaro, Ascoli Piceno Festival, etc.)
Involved also in contemporary music, he has performed premieres of various composers (Ambrosini, Ferrero, Dall’Ongaro…) as a Second Violin of the Ex Novo Ensemble, recording live concerts for Rai Radio Tre. He has collaborated in recordings for record companies like Emi Virgin, Brillant Classic e Decca.
Giacomo Catana – Violin
Having graduated brilliantly from the Conservatorio di Padova under the guidance of Giovanni Angeleri, Giacomo studied with S. Tchakerian, G. Carmignola, F. Cusano, S. Pagliani and F. Mezzena. He is the Second Violin of the Quartetto Arquà, with which he has performed in Italy and abroad for important associations and festivals (Regia Accademia Filarmonica of Bologna, Festival dei Due Mondi of Spoleto, Festival “Dino Ciani” of Cortina d’Ampezzo, Festival del Quartetto d’Archi, Festival “Sesto Rocchi” in Quintetto with A. Farulli, “I Concerti del Quirinale di Radio3” …). He has attended string quartet courses at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole with F. Cusano e A. Nannoni respectively, passing the final exam with maximum marks and honours. Currently he is attending a chamber music specialization course with the Quartetto di Cremona at the Accademia W. Stauffer and attends the 2nd Level Academic Biennial of the Baroque Violin at the Conservatorio di Castelfranco Veneto with G. Fava.
In 2010 he won the scholarship for principals in the OGI “Orchestra Giovanile Italiana” of the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, with which he has played in important Italian stages and famous festivals (Ravenna Festival, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Stresa Festival, Auditorium di Santa Cecilia in Rome …). He collaborates with orchestras like the Orchestra “Haydn”, “Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto”, “Orchestra Sinfonica di Pescara”, Orchestra “Luigi Cherubini”, and “I Solisti di Pavia”.
Marco Nason – Viola
Born in Venice, Marco graduated with maximum marks at the Conservatorio “B. Marcello” of Venice and then attained the 2nd Level Academic Diploma in Musical Disciplines with maximum marks and honours, further winning a scholarship as the best student.
Member of the Quartetto Arquà, he obtained a String Quartet Specialization Diploma from the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole with maximum marks and honours.
He has attended specialization courses with H. Beyerle, A. Farulli, B. Giuranna, A. Nannoni, L. Ranieri, D. Rossi, D. Zaltron, A. Zamarra and the Quartetto di Cremona.
He has collaborated with various orchestras, such as the Orchestra del Teatro La Fenice of Venice, Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della Rai of Turin; he has performed, as a Soloist, “Lachrymae” by B. Britten within the framework of the Festival Opera Barga and “Rothko Chapel” by M. Feldman at the Teatro Malibran of Venice for the Biennale Musica, a concert recorded and broadcast on Radio3.
He obtained qualification for the Orchestra Giovanile Italiana, the Mahler Jugend Orchestre, Orchestra Cherubini, Orchestra dell’Arena of Verona, Orchestra Haydn of Trento and Bolzano and Orchestra del Teatro Carlo Felice of Genoa.
