We are pleased to announce the presence of the talented saxophonist Gianfranco Menzella in Nairobi from March 21st to 28th, 2024, for an extraordinary artistic residency. Hailing from Matera, Menzella has distinguished himself in the international music scene thanks to his mastery of the saxophone and his versatility in jazz.
His stay in Kenya will be enriched by a series of events:
Friday, March 22nd: Afrolect Academy Masterclass
A unique opportunity for some young musical talents to participate in a masterclass led by Maestro Menzella.
Saturday, March 23rd: Jazz Jam Session at Geco Café
An open concert to the public held at Geco Café from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, where the Jazztified Group and other artists will perform together in an evening of pure musical creativity.
Tuesday, March 26th: Jazz Jam Session at Geco Café
Another not-to-be-missed appointment at Geco Café from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, this time with the band Mackinlay and Friends, ready to evoke emotions through jazz.
Wednesday, March 27th: Afrolect Jazz Club at Weal House
A special evening starting at 7 pm at Weal House with the Afrolect Jazz Club concert, where the audience will enjoy the extraordinary performances of Gianfranco Menzella alongside Brian Sigu, Lisa Oduor Noah, and Mackinley Mutsembi.
