Pinocchio in Motion – A Sunday for friends and families

FORM 5 sensi (23)

As part of the exhibition “Dear Pinocchio: Italian designers and graphic designers reinvent the most famous puppet in the world”, the Italian Cultural Institute of Nairobi invites you to a special event suitable for all ages.

On Sunday, 22 March 2026, starting at 11:30 AM, the spaces of Visit Ngara – Shah Houses will host a dance performance within the exhibition venue, inspired by the famous story of Pinocchio, during which the characters of the tale will come to life through the language of movement

For one day, the world imagined by Carlo Collodi will be transformed into a small theatrical stage: puppets coming to life, Blue Fairies, talking crickets, and other characters from the story will accompany children and adults on a journey through music, theatre, and dance.

The initiative is also part of the celebrations marking the 200th anniversary of Carlo Collodi’s birth, the author of The Adventures of Pinocchio, one of the most beloved works of children’s literature and a story that continues to speak to generations of readers around the world.

As Pinocchio exclaims when he first discovers the joy of movement:
“As soon as they made my feet, I immediately began to run and jump around the room.”

The performance will last approximately 25 minutes and will be presented three times during the day:

  • 11:30 AM
  • 1:30 PM
  • 3:00 PM

Participants are required to register in advance and select the performance they wish to attend at the following link: https://forms.gle/wvsQGBQZ2PRbmXSL7 .

During the day, visitors will also have the opportunity to explore the exhibition, which features 31 three-dimensional reinterpretations of Pinocchio created by Italian designers and 31 graphic posters dedicated to the famous puppet. The exhibition remains open daily until 26 March from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

A special Sunday designed to discover Pinocchio through art, movement, and imagination, sharing a creative moment together with children, parents, and friends.
