The initiative that the National Jazz Music Association proposed was created to motivate young Italian jazz musicians towards reality and the international scene thanks to an exchange process and a path of training and professional growth.
MIDj attaches great strategic importance to the Artist Residences that are included among the pivotal aims of its Statute.
In 2018 the first edition of the AIR Project was held, the AIR project – Artists in Residence – which involved 20 musicians between the ages of 18 and 30, from 17 Italian regions.
The AIR project has successfully achieved the objectives set, representing a moment of enormous human and professional growth for the musicians involved, making Italian jazz known abroad, through comparisons and contacts between artists in a creative exchange of experience, and giving life to interesting exchanges between Kenyan and Italian artists.
In 2020 the second edition of the project will take place.
