The Italian Cultural Institute of Nairobi invites you to an exclusive creative experience where wine is transformed into art.
On Thursday, January 29, at Ikigai – Westlands, Italian artist Rita Barbero, known as PurpleRyta, will lead a hands-on creative workshop introducing participants to her distinctive wine on paper technique.
The workshop will take place from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and will be divided into two sessions, each with a limited number of participants.
- First session: 5:00 pm
- Second session: 6:00 pm
Guided by the artist, participants will explore painting using wine as a medium, experimenting with colour, texture and creative expression.
During the evening, participants will also be offered a tasting of Italian wines, accompanied by a light aperitivo.
This event also marks the launch of the 2026 programme, a new series of events inspired by the senses and developed under the theme:
The Italian Experience: a cultural journey through the five senses.
Places are limited, and advance registration is required.
When registering, please indicate which session you wish to attend.

no later than Tuesday, January 27.
An inspiring evening of art, wine and sensory discovery awaits you.
A second event upon invitation only will take place on Friday, January 30th, at Shamba Events, as part of the Top Italian Wines Roadshow, organised by Gambero Rosso for the third consecutive year in Kenya, in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy in Nairobi and the Italian Trade Agency (ITA).
Starting at 2:00 pm, PurpleRyta will present a live artistic performance lasting approximately one hour, creating an artwork that evolves from an initial “stain” of wine. A selection of her works will also be exhibited during the event.
