The Italian Cultural Institute, together with the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) in Nairobi and under the guidance of the Embassy of Italy in Kenya, is pleased to present Canvas of Change, the launch event of the Activate Nairobi campaign, held in the framework of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.
The evening will mark the inauguration of the exhibition Canvas of Change: an exhibition celebrating the rights of women and girls, featuring the creative perspectives of Kenyan female and male artists. The event will also host the award ceremony for the artistic competition “Empowering Art: Kenya’s Creative Voices”, which invited local talents to share, through their art, stories and viewpoints that foster a culture of respect, equity, and self-determination.
Also on display will be the works created by some of the winners during the artistic residency led by artist Stefania D’Amato, along with the flags from the “Moving Flags over the Wind” series, also created by them—symbolic explorations of movement, freedom, and transformation.
The exhibition will remain open to the public at the Kenya National Library until 2nd December 2025, offering the community a valuable opportunity to engage with themes central to human development, gender equality, and social justice.
Participation requires mandatory registration, and seating is limited.
