The “Week of the Italian Language in the World” is back! This year, on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of the death of the poet Dante Alighieri, the theme of the event is “DANTE, the Italian”. The Italian Cultural Institute of Nairobi, in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy in Kenya, will celebrate our language and Dante Alighieri with the following events:

22nd OCTOBER at 2.30pm. FROM THE DARK WOOD TO PARADISE: DANTE AT UNIVERSITY OF NAIROBI (event organized in partnership with University of Nairobi)  Live link to the conference: https://facebook.com/IICNairobi2016
Presentation of the audiobook “From the Dark Wood to Paradise” (https://www.spreaker.com/show/dalla-selva-oscura-al-paradiso), in which some parts of the “Divine Comedy” has been translated into 33 languages including Kiswahili. The conference will be followed by the screening of the film “The sky over Kibera”, shot by the “Teatro delle Albe” in Nairobi.
Venue: Chandaria Center, University of Nairobi. The event will be broadcast live on our Facebook page.

22nd- 24th OCTOBER. TH SKY OVER KIBERA
Online screening of the film “The sky over Kibera” by Marco Martinelli. The film, produced by the “Teatro delle Albe” and shot in Nairobi, tells of the “coming to life” of the Divine Comedy, played by 150 children and teens from Kibera.
