“Nairobi” is the book dedicated to the capital of Kenya published as part of the “Visible Cities” series by the OGzero publishing house.
The work, curated by Freddie Del Curatolo and Leni Frau, tells the story of the city in a journey through urban spaces, unhinging the clichés of the Western imagination thanks to the viewing of images and words that leave no room for do-gooders and make up a precise socio anthropological portrait. Witnesses of this humanity are immersed in the smells, tastes, colours and materials that build the city. Thanks to this materiality, one does not feel the need for risky analyses, but everything is plain to see: it is enough to read the stories of anecdotes and events underlying the birth of a commercial hub that draws development from the melting pot of heterogeneous communities, which make it that “nice mess that will never change”.
The book – in the presence of the authors – will be presented in Nairobi, Malindi and Diani on the following dates:
- Nairobi: 9th December 2022 at 6.00pm (Queen Deli Compund, 2 Peponi Road)
- Malindi: 29 December 2022
- Diani: January 17, 2023 (The Sands at Nomad)
The presentation will be accompanied at all stages by the photographic exhibition of the images from the book, which will also remain open to the public on days that follow.
