During the last week of April and on the occasion of International Jazz Day, the quartet formed by Carla Marciano (saxophone), Alessandro La Corte (piano), Aldo Vigorito (double bass) and Gaetano Fasano (drums) will perform at Afrolect International Jazz Festival.
Carla Marciano is an Italian saxophonist and composer considered among the best talents in international jazz. She is an alto saxophone specialist and a leading expert of sopranino saxophone. She performs with her quartet, composed of some of the best musicians on the Italian scene – Alessandro La Corte, Aldo Vigorito and Gaetano Fasano – with whom she has released four albums, three of them with the historic label “Black Saint”. The music proposed by the quertet is mainly based on original compositions by the saxophonist, ranging from passionate and instinctive, sometimes impetuous and vehement, to more spiritual atmospheres and moments of meditation and reflection.
On the occasion of the Afrolect International Jazz Festival, the quartet will perform excerpts from the latest album “Psychosis – Homage to Bernard Herrmann” (produced by the prestigious Dutch label Challenge Records) and some of Marciano’s original compositions from previous works.
