From 12 to 19 November 2025, Italian artist Maestro Tommaso Cascella will be in residence at St. Kizito VTI in Nairobi, as part of the initiatives organized by this Institute for the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World.

Born in Rome in 1951, Cascella belongs to one of Italy’s most renowned artistic families, active for generations in painting, sculpture, and architecture. Immersed in art since childhood, he has developed a personal language that renews this heritage through constant experimentation with color, form, and material.

During his stay in Nairobi, Maestro Cascella will create a new work — a design/sculptural table — inspired by the themes of conviviality and cultural dialogue that define Italian culinary tradition.

A painter and sculptor, Cascella is known for his luminous compositions that evoke architectures made of light and matter, and for his deep fascination with poetry and literature, from which he often draws the titles of his works. Since his debut in Milan in 1985, he has held numerous exhibitions in Italy and abroad, establishing himself as one of the leading voices in contemporary Italian art.
