The Week of the Italian Language in the World 2025 will conclude with a truly special event: Opera, Amore, a musical production by the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, currently on its African tour, with Nairobi as the third stop, following performances in Ethiopia and Tanzania.
Commissioned by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), Opera, Amore is a poetic and passionate journey through four centuries of Italian opera — from its Baroque origins to the timeless works of Verdi and Puccini.
Guided by the symbolic characters of Music (the soprano) and Love (the tenor), the performance tells the story of how opera became one of Italy’s most enduring cultural expressions, capable of crossing borders and touching hearts around the world.
Through a captivating blend of narration, song, and performance, Opera, Amore celebrates the universal language of emotion and the beauty of human connection.
Featuring talented young artists from the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, this unique show offers both opera lovers and newcomers an inspiring encounter with the passion, drama, and splendor of the Italian lyric tradition.
