Courses in Italian language, culture and various disciplines offered to foreigners
Consult the list of schools, centers, academies that offer courses in various disciplines addressed principally to foreign students.
You may search for the courses by region and/or town and/or type. In the selection of type of course, the items on the menu are deliberately generic, for example “Italian Language”, “Design”, “Music” and “Singing”, for which one is referred to the schools’ website where one can view all the sub-types offered.
If you are searching for Italian Language courses, a visit to the website of the centers listed here will allow one to distinguish the schools exclusively dedicated to teaching the Italian Language to foreigners from those that offer language courses as a complement to other subjects, such as art, fashion, design, cookery, etc.
Guarantees on reliability of the organizational plan and on quality of the teaching plan are offered by the Italian language and culture schools that have obtained the recognition known as Presa d’atto from MIUR (following inspection by the Ministry of Education, Universities and Scientific Research)
While visiting the schools’ website verify that they are members of associations that have as their aim the protection of quality of services offered and that are answerable to clients, such as:
at national level:
- ASILS (Association of Schools of Italian as a Second Language)
- AIL (Italian Academy of Language)
- Study in Italy (Genova)
at international level:
- FIYTO (Federation of International Youth Travel Organizations)
- ALTO (Association of Language Travel Organizations)
- IALC (International Association of Language Centers)
- TANDEM (International Network of Quality Language Institutes)
- EAQUALS (The European Association for Quality Language Services)
- IHWO (International House World Organization)
It is important also to know if the schools are recognized as Institutions of Training and if they are authorized to issue certifications of knowledge of the Italian language.
For all the schools that do not have any of these requisites it is recommended that you check if their website contains clear and precise information on:
- economical conditions of the courses offered (prices, deposits, refund of deposits in case of cancellation)
- course venues (building, classrooms, infrastructure, technical facilities)
- characteristics of accommodation for students (costs and location)
- teaching personnel (qualifications and curriculum)
- teaching material used.
