L’italiano tra parole e arte: (Italian between words and art): artist Daniele Tozzi’s residency in Nairobi

From 15 to 21 October the Italian artist Daniele Tozzi will be in Nairobi to execute a large-scale mural in the Mukuru district. The work – realised using the calligram technique – will feature a set of words in Italian and English that will compose artistic figures and compositions.

Daniele Tozzi (1981) is an artist from Rome who approached the world of graffiti in the second half of the 1990s. After high school, he graduated in ‘Digital Design’ at the European Institute of Design (IED) and started working as a graphic designer.

The encounter between the world of graphics and the world of graffiti led Daniele to make the “lettering” technique his stylistic signature, while the search for a synthesis between writing and graphics turns out to be the core of his artistic research.

This initiative is organised for the occasion of the 22nd edition of the ‘Settimana della Lingua Italiana nel Mondo’ (World Italian Language Week), which this year is dedicated to the theme ‘Italian and young people. Come scusa? Non ti followo” (Excuse me? I won’t follow you’).

  • Organized by: IIC Nairobi
  • In collaboration with: Bonobolabo, Ruben Centre, Ghetto Classics
