“Italian Beauty”: Photografic Exhibition by Leonardo Mangia

From the 6th to 31st of May, twelve photographs from the “Italian Beauty” series by Italian photographer Leonardo Mangia will be on display at the Artcaffè Market in Rhapta Square in Nairobi.

The images, which capture some of the most iconic and fascinating urban landscapes of the Italian peninsula, include shots of Rome, Venice, Matera, Turin, Udine, Triest and the Cinque Terre.

Leonardo Mangia (1993) is a photojournalist who has lived the last few years traveling in particular between South East Asia and Africa. He spent months along the Mekong in Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam, and was stranded on the African continent during the pandemic. He has documented the effects of the Coronavirus from the most remote places of the planet, collaborating with UNICEF, Amref Health Africa and other non-governmental organizations. In 2021 he moved to Nairobi in Kenya, where he was one of the few reporters to review, in both Italian and international magazines, the preparation for Tokyo 2020 of the Olympic Refugee Team, the evolution of the contagion and the start of the vaccination campaign against Covid.
His photos have been exhibited in Zurich, Rome and in the Dolomites of Italy’s Friuli Region and he has received honorable mentions in several international photojournalism competitions.

The exhibition is part of the initiatives promoted, on the occasion of the “Italian Month”, organized and promoted by Artcaffé with the participation of the Italian Cultural Institute in Nairobi and the Embassy of Italy in Kenya.
