﻿{"id":5648,"date":"2025-12-29T15:09:22","date_gmt":"2025-12-29T12:09:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/iicnairobi.esteri.it\/?page_id=5648"},"modified":"2026-01-07T15:10:10","modified_gmt":"2026-01-07T12:10:10","slug":"arco-ponte-bilancia-arcobaleno-di-pace-e-lavoro-del-maestro-tommaso-cascella","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/iicnairobi.esteri.it\/en\/chi-siamo\/la-sede\/cultural-heritage\/arco-ponte-bilancia-arcobaleno-di-pace-e-lavoro-del-maestro-tommaso-cascella\/","title":{"rendered":"Arco, Ponte, Bilancia, Arcobaleno di Pace e Lavoro del Maestro Tommaso Cascella"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"167\" data-end=\"520\">The artwork \u201cArch, Bridge, Scale, Rainbow of Peace and Work<strong data-start=\"179\" data-end=\"231\">\u201d<\/strong> was created by Maestro Tommaso Cascella (Rome, 1951) as part of an <strong data-start=\"303\" data-end=\"387\">artistic residency <\/strong>program promoted by the Italian Cultural Institute of Nairobi, hosted at the <strong data-start=\"403\" data-end=\"449\">Saint Kizito Vocational Training Institute<\/strong>, on the occasion of the <strong data-start=\"474\" data-end=\"519\">Week of Italian Cuisine in the World 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"522\" data-end=\"960\">The project was conceived with the aim of creating a space for <strong data-start=\"585\" data-end=\"654\">international collaboration, training, and intercultural dialogue<\/strong>, in which art becomes a vehicle for exchange, learning, and communication. Saint Kizito VTI is a centre of excellence in the training of young professionals in fields such as carpentry, metalwork, plumbing, computer science, and other technical skills that are fundamental to human and social development.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"962\" data-end=\"1358\">The artwork \u2014 a <strong data-start=\"978\" data-end=\"1039\">table\/sculpture conceived and entirely created in Nairobi<\/strong>, featuring two tops made of red mahogany and recycled metal \u2014 represents a symbolic place of encounter, balance, and sharing. Through its materials, forms, and meanings, the work reflects the idea that art can transcend linguistic and cultural boundaries, becoming a tool of <strong data-start=\"1321\" data-end=\"1357\">participatory cultural diplomacy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1360\" data-end=\"1655\">The table was first exhibited at the <strong data-start=\"1397\" data-end=\"1424\">Nairobi National Museum<\/strong> and was later presented at the <strong data-start=\"1456\" data-end=\"1505\">Residence of the Ambassador of Italy to Kenya<\/strong>, where it is now installed, enriching the its artistic heritage.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1662\" data-end=\"1680\"><strong data-start=\"1666\" data-end=\"1680\">The Artist<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1682\" data-end=\"1904\">Maestro <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tommasocascella.com\/\">Tommaso Cascella<\/a> belongs to one of Italy\u2019s most important artistic families. A painter and sculptor, his research arises from an original fusion between a classical foundation and a deeply contemporary sensibility.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1906\" data-end=\"2207\">His works are animated by an inner tension \u2014 a <em data-start=\"1953\" data-end=\"1971\">\u201clucid madness,\u201d<\/em> to quote Giovanni Pascoli \u2014 and develop through continuous experimentation with materials.
